Traffic Congestion
Seoul is one of the most populous cities in the world and, in a city where one of its most manufactured item is cars, there is bound to be a high prevalence of traffic congestion. Traffic congestion not only makes you later for work it also is a leading cause of pollution. Traffic congestion is also a problem because you end up feeling frustrated and angry because of traffic. Many people are on the move in and out of the city centre but with so many cars, traffic is a very important issue that needs to fixed.
Air Pollution
One problem really plaguing Seoul is air pollution. South Korea is the ninth largest consumer of chlorofluorocarbons, harmful compounds to the ozone layer. During the beginning of South Korea's economic boom, there was next-to-no attention for the environment. When Korea started paying attention to the effects, so many problems had risen so quickly, it was hard for the government to manage.
The biggest contributor to air pollution is the number of emissions produced by cars. In Seoul there are 6.27 million cars, and so 60 percent of air pollutants come from exhaust emissions from automoblies. Seoul also experiences yellow dust (pictured below), which comes from the deserts of Mongolia and is carried east by wind. This phenomenon is a serious problem because of the increase of pollutants that have become contained in the dust. Air pollution is a serious problem that needs to be solved, or it will end up in constant smog!

Water Pollution
Water pollution is another very important issue for Seoul. Seoul's main causes of water pollution are from sewerage discharge, emissions, drift net fishing and from the disposal of rubbish by people. Seoul's four main reservoirs for drinking water have been getting worse and have been classified as polluted. As a result, the sewerage systems are overloaded, Seoul experiences acid rain and the sea level is rising, all of which are endangering sea creatures. Below is a picture of Seoul's water contamination.
